Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information Yompei collects through yompei.com, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
1. Who we are
"Yompei" is a trade name used by the Yompei team, an unincorporated business based in the United States ("Yompei", "we", "us"). We are the controller of the personal information described here. The way to reach us is by email at help@yompei.com.
2. What we collect
Right now yompei.com is an informational site with an early-access waitlist. We collect what we need to run that waitlist and to set up a one-on-one call with the people on it.
Information you give us
- Email address — when you join the early-access waitlist.
- Your name and business — your full name, the name of your business and the US state where it is registered, which you give on the second step of the signup.
- Phone number (optional) — only if you give one and tick the box allowing us to call you to set up a one-on-one call.
- Your compliance issue — the main compliance issue you choose from the list, and any other details you add in the optional text field.
- Which form you used — a label such as "landing page (hero)" so we know where signups come from.
- Your consent — a record that you agreed to receive early-access emails and, if you gave a phone number, that you agreed to be called to set up a one-on-one call, with the time of each.
- Anything you email us — if you write to help@yompei.com, we keep the message and your address so we can reply.
We do not ask for payment information or any government identifiers on this site. If we launch paid plans, we will update this policy before collecting anything more.
Information from public records
After you complete the second step of the signup, we run a short automated business check: we look up the business name you gave in public business registries, and the public mail records of your email address's domain (the part after the @). The result is saved as notes for the person preparing your call: a label such as "Verified", "Likely match", "Not found" or "Not checked", what the registry shows (for example, whether the business is in good standing), and whether your email address looks like a personal, disposable or business address.
Information collected automatically
We do not run analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts, and we do not set cookies. However, the providers that deliver this site may process technical data such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you request, as part of serving the site securely. See Section 5 for who they are.
Spam protection
Our signup forms include a hidden field that people never see but automated bots often fill in. If that field is filled, we discard the submission. This does not collect anything about you.
3. How we use it
- To add you to the early-access waitlist and email you about early access, including when it opens in your state.
- To contact you by phone to set up a one-on-one call about your compliance needs.
- To check that the business you named exists, using public business registries and your email domain's public mail records, so we can prepare for that call.
- To respond when you contact us.
- To understand which parts of the site bring signups (using only the form label, not tracking).
- To keep a record of your consent, so we can show we had permission to email you and to call you.
- To protect the site from spam and abuse.
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing. The business check described in Section 2 is automated, but it only produces notes that a person on our team reviews before contacting you. We do not use it, or anything else, to make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.
4. Legal bases (EEA, UK, Switzerland)
Yompei is a United States business built for US state compliance, and the site is not directed at people outside the US. If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland and use the site anyway, our legal bases are: consent for sending you early-access emails and contacting you by phone to set up a one-on-one call (you can withdraw it at any time), legitimate interests in running and securing the site, in checking the business you named before we call you, and in responding to your messages, and legal obligation where the law requires us to keep records.
5. Who we share it with
The first four rows below are service providers that process personal information on our behalf under their own contractual and legal obligations. The last three are public services we search for our business check: they receive only the search terms shown, never your name, phone number, or full email address.
| Provider | What they do for us | What they may process |
|---|---|---|
| Google LLC (Google Sheets and Apps Script) | Stores the waitlist, receives form submissions, and runs our business check | Your email address, name, phone number (if given), business name and state, compliance issue and any other details, form label, consent records, signup time, and the notes from our business check. Google may also log the IP address of the request. |
| Google LLC (Google Fonts) | Serves the typefaces used on the site | Your IP address and browser details when the fonts load. Google states it does not use Fonts requests for profiling or advertising. |
| GitHub, Inc. (GitHub Pages) | Hosts the site's files | Standard server logs including IP address, per the GitHub Privacy Statement. |
| Namecheap, Inc. (domain registrar and edge routing) | Routes requests for yompei.com to our host and provides the site's TLS certificate | Standard connection logs including IP address. |
| Google LLC (Google Public DNS) | Answers our lookup of your email domain's public mail records | The domain part of your email address only (the part after the @), not the full address. |
| New York Department of State and Colorado Secretary of State open-data portals (data.ny.gov, data.colorado.gov), hosted by Tyler Technologies (Socrata) | Public business registries we search | The business name you entered, as a search query. |
| OpenCorporates Ltd | Searches public company registries | The business name and state you entered, as a search query: automatically only if we turn that lookup on, and otherwise only when someone on our team opens a manual search link. OpenCorporates is based in the United Kingdom. |
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or safety, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (in which case this policy continues to apply until you are told otherwise).
6. Cookies and tracking
yompei.com does not set cookies and does not use analytics, pixels, session replay, or advertising technology. The only thing it keeps in your browser is your email address, in session storage, between the two steps of the signup; it is deleted when you finish the second step or close the tab. Because we do not track visitors, we do not respond to browser "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signals in any special way — there is nothing to opt out of. Full details are in our Cookie Policy. If we ever add cookies that are not strictly necessary, we will ask for your consent first.
7. How long we keep it
- Waitlist entries — the details you entered in the signup form and the notes from our business check, kept until early access has fully launched and we have contacted you, or 24 months from signup, whichever comes first; earlier if you ask us to delete you or unsubscribe.
- Consent records — for as long as we contact you by email or phone, plus the period needed to demonstrate consent under applicable law.
- Email correspondence — for as long as needed to handle your request and for a reasonable period afterwards.
8. Your rights and choices
Wherever you live, you can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop emailing or calling you. To exercise any of these, email help@yompei.com from the address you signed up with. We will respond within 30 days (45 days for California requests, extendable once as permitted by law) and will not treat you differently for making a request.
Unsubscribing and opting out of calls
Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, or you can simply reply and ask to be removed. To stop phone calls, tell us during the call or email help@yompei.com. We honor email and phone opt-outs within 10 business days.
California residents
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA), you have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose; to delete it; to correct it; and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. In the preceding 12 months we have collected only the categories listed in Section 2 (identifiers; professional information such as your business name and the state where it is registered; commercial information such as the compliance help you are interested in; inferences, namely the notes from our business check; and consent records), for the purposes in Section 3, and disclosed them only to the recipients listed in Section 5. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we have no actual knowledge of collecting information from anyone under 16. You may use an authorized agent to make a request; we will ask for proof of authorization.
Other US states
If you live in a state with a comprehensive privacy law (such as Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, or Oregon), you have similar rights to access, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of your data, and to opt out of targeted advertising, sales, and profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects — none of which we do. If we decline a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision, and we will explain the outcome.
EEA, UK, and Switzerland
You also have the right to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your local supervisory authority.
9. Security
The site is served over HTTPS. The waitlist is stored in a Google Sheets spreadsheet restricted to the people who run Yompei, protected by account credentials and two-factor authentication. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps appropriate to the information we hold.
10. Children
Yompei is a business service. The site is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 where a higher age applies). If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. International transfers
We are based in the United States and our service providers store data in the United States. The one exception is OpenCorporates, in the United Kingdom, which can receive a business name and state as a search query (see Section 5). If you access the site from elsewhere, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country. Where required, our providers rely on recognized transfer mechanisms such as Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service grows. We will post the new version here with a new "Last updated" date, and if the change materially affects how we use information you have already given us, we will email you before it takes effect.
